We here at FDLFBH take ourselves very seriously. Like, deadly. Subsequently, sometimes we need to vent, lest our poor little heads explode and our brains burst forth like some kind of horrendous piƱata gone terribly wrong. Anyway, where was I?
Oh right, this week's theme. It's all funny voices, varying from men who sound like women to women who sound like men and everything in between. Enjoy. Or, rather, we hope you enjoyed.

An Ode to Obscure Holidays
So I meant to post this last week, when it was relevant, but I guess a week late is better than never. First, a preface:
I don't really get most holidays, particularly religious ones. And by 'get', I of course mean have any concept of what they represent, or why people celebrate them. Subsequently, last Wednesday when I saw flocks of people with little smudgies on their forehead, I thought lots of kids had been falling asleep in art class...near charcoal. Ash Wednesday = not something in my head.
Anywho, here's a song that, like my knowledge of the holiday, actually has nothing to do with it.
Until tomorrow,
Stay wise

FUCK YEAH HIPSTER KITTY!
So we here at Fiddle Fib enjoy promoting things we enjoy when we have the opportunity. Last week, Ali brought you a nubbin on VV Brown, easily one of the most badass humans on the planet. This week, I bring you a website about kittens.
Maybe not a direct correlation, but I enjoy thinking about it.

Until Thursday (tomorrow?)
Stay Obscure,

We Are Family
It was all about familial love at FDLFBH last week; because we all like reliving those moments involving sisters/parents/uncles/second cousins-twice-removed-wait-they're-a-part-of-our-family (?) That and apparently we're Dolly Parton fans now. Not sure how the two are correlated? Listen in this week for an Ode to Funny Voices.

PS Don't judge me for the Dolly Parton. It's a good song about the plight of the working class, and it was my don't judge me. JUDGERS.

Taking the Throne
With Wino in rehab/out of rehab/giving away her 11 cats because they're 'out of control' (Google the last one, swear it's true), who can we turn to in order to fill that 60's soul meets R&B meets "wow is that voice coming out of that girl's mouth?" void?
We have finally found our answer. Check out V.V. Brown.

For all you Bostonians, she'll be at the Great Scott on February 22. For $9 we say this breath of fresh air will most definitely be worth it.
Happy President's Day!
A&K (&M&R!!! Yay for interns!)

An Ode to Fambly/Familia/Famiglia/Family/Being Trapped in a Car for Six Hours at a Time
quite fitting, given the addition of two baby interns to our family here at FDLFBH. By the by, in case you're wondering how to pronounce that, it's fiddle-fib. If you're trying to save time.
Anywho, until then, enjoy the tunes. Maybe we'll post some stuff. Maybe the interns will. Maybe barnacles will come flying out of my pants.

*A local band that has since split up and more or less reformed under the moniker Wonderful Spells.
**It's Rachel Haden of that dog on vocals, and was a b-side, hence the lack of Rivers Cuomo singing.
***Sometimes he goes by Dave Godowsky, which is his real name, and frankly the change is a little too Robert Zimmerman for my likings. Just stay with your real name, Dave.

A Post Script
Sometimes we'll arbitrarily post songs from the previous week's show. This is one of those times.
Elvis Perkins in Dearland - Doomsday
Andrew Bird - 11:11
Their theme? Gangly, pasty white multi instrumentalists in their mid 30s we currently or have in the past crushed on.

So I guess it's sort of fitting that last week's theme was an Ode to Time and somehow it's Sunday and the playlist hasn't been posted yet. Like, we haven't had the time to do it. GEDDIT?!
Screw you. It's funny.

Ga-Ga-Grammys

Your homework for Thursday: Watch. Ponder. Watch again. Love.
(Yes, we'll be covering this in two days. We know you secretly want us to. After all, that's what FDLFBH is all about.)
Until then, this has been an Ode to 'Not Doing Homework and Updating the Blog and Facebook Fan Page (add us as a fan!)'
Adios,
Ali
